Yoga builds intelligence and awareness regarding what’s going on in the body, highlighting where we’re open and flexible, and also where we’re tight. This all-levels yoga workshop series will bring focus to our asymmetries—the leg, hip, or side of the body that tends to be tighter or tweaky when we sit, stand, walk, twist, and bend. In practice, we’ll spend some extra time opening up and aligning our tight sides with plenty of tips and tools to take away and put into practice beyond your yoga mat.

Each session builds up toward the next and also serves as a stand-alone class:

  • Sept 6: Tight Side Yoga basics to help legs, hips, and low backs

  • Sept 13: Tight Side Yoga refinement and lower body alignment

  • Sept 20: Adding in upper body Tight Side Yoga therapeutics

  • Sept 27: Building your own Tight Side Yoga practice to take home

Morgan Andrews has been teaching yoga at Studio 34 since 2009 and leads the Yoga Class Sequencing Weekend as part of Studio 34’s Yoga Teacher Training program. Morgan’s early morning classes offer an alignment-based entry point to a wake-up-and-move yoga practice, and his Advancing Asana classes provide opportunities to take that practice further. “Yoga for your Tight Side” is a mellower, therapeutic series based on Morgan’s own experiences using yoga to heal from injury and chronic pain. This series is tailored to those experiencing tightness or pain on one leg, hip, or side of the body.
