SHADOWBEATS is an oculauracular spectacular! A live audiovisual experience designed in collaboration by Philly musicians and puppeteers/multimedia artists. Pamela Spark (live code electronic music) and Unboned (genre-fluid post punk) will perform sets scoring overhead projector shadow shows by Xtian Mingle. Plus special guest Ollie Goss will open the show with a performance featuring their one-of-a-kind inflatable art.

More about the lineup:

Pamela Spark is a multimedia artist and live coder. Live code exposes the innards of software as it changes to create improvised music or visuals. She performs as a live coder in Philadelphia with the multimedia art collective Philly AV, as part of the live code band CatFans, as well as performing solo, and organized the first “Algorave” in Philadelphia in 2018. In 2020, she released her first EP as Pam the Webivore, and her music was featured in the Women of React and Oxidize online conferences.

Unboned is an experimental/fluid music project. Currently featuring solo artist Sofia. It is the unconscious releasing itself on impulse and without reservation

Xtian Mingle is a shadow casting puppeteer, multimedia artist, and sometimes drag king projecting all over Philadelphia.

Ollie Goss is an artist who uses installation, puppetry and performance to create aberrations in reality as catalysts to propose alternatives for a more equitable world. Their work aims to interrogate how space is inscribed, and the permeable/impermeable nature of that designation through marionettes, inflatables, and live-stream video.

Doors to the show open at 7:30, with performances starting around 8:00. Come early to see Landscapes on the Edge of Abstraction, an art show of oil paintings and encaustics currently on display in Studio 34’s hallway gallery.
