Studio 34’s Pedagogy of Yoga program offers both continuing education to yoga teachers and a 6-week course in asana (poses) and pranayama (breath) open to everyone. Led by Studio 34 teacher Morgan FitzPatrick Andrews, Pedagogy of Yoga is a training driven by the questions that we bring.

FOR TEACHERS: Three weekend-long immersions highlight three aspects of teaching yoga from a student-centered approach: 1) Communication — with voice, words, body and space; 2) Sequencing — a yoga class, a single pose, or an entire practice; and 3) Assisting — with our hands and our knowledge to deepen the experience of students. Open to anyone trained to teach yoga, trainees can expect to practice teaching, designing, and assisting in a supportive environment that encourages inquiry and feedback.

FOR EVERYONE: 6 pranayama and 16 asana classes happen on select Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays throughout the training. As a whole, these classes comprise a thorough survey of yoga anatomy, movement, and alignment for yoga teachers, and are drop-in for the general public. Pedagogy of Yoga also includes short weekly readings supported by discussion time on Wednesday evenings.

INFO SESSIONS happen on the February 4th, March 4th, and April 4th. Bring your questions and desires for what you’d like to work on. Each session is preceded by Morgan’s asana class.

MORGAN FITZPATRICK ANDREWS has been teaching yoga at Studio 34 since 2009. His classes invite students to advance their practice through the anatomy and understanding of breath and the body, rooted in commitments to community, social justice, and a vibrant sense of humor. Beyond his studies of yoga, Morgan holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College in Vermont, and trained at the Jana Sanskrit Centre for Theatre of the Oppressed in West Bengal. Practicing these radical models of learning is integral to the way Morgan teaches yoga, and the Pedagogy of Yoga program invites others to practice them as well.
