3/29: Grand Opening Party pix
By S34fan | April 4, 2008
Once again, thanks to the several hundred of you who came out to our Grand Opening on Sat., 29 March. And special thanks to the Citywide Specials, jazz guitarist Walt Bibinger, and Jessi Teich, who provided the music. And our unending gratitude to all the folks who so generously gave their time and energy to help us get up and operating! Here are some pics (many by JJ Tiziou)…
Before-party prep: making sushi for 300 takes, for starters, an entire 10-pound bag of rice. Then add avocado, carrot, roe, salmon, Vietnamese chili sauce, etc., etc., and roll four dozen California, spicy salmon, and vegetarian rolls. Makes 320 pieces, minus the ones eaten in the name of “quality control.”
The crowd gathers…

…for Walt Bibinger and Jessi Teich.

Someone’s little girl sure had fun with that Spiderman doll.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Citywide Specials!
Look, someone baked a Studio 34 cake! Stephen says, How cool is that?
